In this guide
- The Data Store keeps hashed e-mail and phone, click IDs and cookie values for the days you choose, up to 400.
- Cookie Keeper and the Enricher both use it. It is on every plan, with a key limit that grows by plan.
- It is private to your container, and Test this power-up checks that it works.
A server container is stateless by default. Each request arrives, the tags run, and the server forgets. That is fine for passing events along, and it is a limit when you want to remember anything about a visitor. The Data Store gives your tagging server a memory. It is a small, protected store that belongs to your container, and it unlocks two features that make a big difference to data quality: restoring cookies for returning visitors and adding stored customer data to later events. This page explains what it holds, how it is limited and how to check it. See also the Enricher, Cookie Keeper and all Open Tracked power-ups.
What it keeps
- Hashed e-mail and phone that a visitor gave at checkout or in a form.
- Click IDs, such as the Meta click ID, saved from the landing page.
- Cookie values that Cookie Keeper restores, such as
_fbp. - Other fields you chose in the Enricher: name, external ID, location, postal code, street, date of birth, gender.
Each entry is a small piece of data under a key. Entries are small. The store is for compact identifiers, not for documents or logs.
Connected in minutes
Add your domain, install the pixel, connect your ad platforms and watch the first events land.
Retention
You choose how many days an entry is kept. The default is 90 days and the maximum is 400, the same as the longest cookie lifetime browsers allow. After that the entry expires and is deleted. Choose the shortest period that makes sense for your sales cycle. A store that sells quickly needs less than one with a long consideration time. Say how long you keep identifiers in your privacy notice.
Limits by plan
| Plan | Most keys the store holds |
|---|---|
| Free | 1,000 |
| Pro | 50,000 |
| Business | 500,000 |
| Business+ | 500,000 |
| Enterprise | 5,000,000 |
A key is one visitor or one cookie entry. A store with 20,000 returning visitors needs room for tens of thousands of keys, which is a reason to move to Pro. When the store is full, new entries are refused and older ones expire as their days run out.
Watch events arrive, live
A sample feed. In Open Tracked you see the same stream for your own store.
Security
The Data Store is private to your container: only your tagging server can read it, and no other account can.
How the other power-ups use it
Cookie Keeper
Keeps platform cookies in the store under a hash of an identifier, and sets them again when the visitor returns without them. It needs the Data Store.
Enricher
Reads the stored customer data and adds it to later events so ad platforms can match them.
Your own tags
In Manual mode the Enricher gives your tags "Stored ..." variables to read from the store.
Set it up
- Open the Data Store power-up, turn it on and press Save.
- Choose how many days to keep what it learns, up to 400.
- Turn on Cookie Keeper and/or the Enricher, which both use the store.
- Download the GTM files from the Setup Wizard and import them into your server container.
- Press Test this power-up.
How the test works
The test checks that the store can save and return an entry and that it is protected. Entries appear under the Data Store tab, so you can see what is being kept.
Privacy
- Store only what you use. Fewer fields means less to protect and explain.
- Tie storing to consent with the Enricher's consent switches.
- Delete an entry when a person asks you to. Entries can be removed from the Data Store tab.
- Treat hashed identifiers as personal data. See GDPR and server-side tracking.
Runs on your domain, anywhere
Your tracking runs on your own domain, so a visit from any country is handled the same way.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Data Store?
A protected memory on your tagging server that keeps identifiers about visitors for the days you choose and gives them back on later events.
How long can it keep data?
You choose. The default is 90 days and the maximum is 400.
Is it on the free plan?
Yes, with room for 1,000 keys. Pro holds 50,000, Business 500,000 and Enterprise 5 million.
What happens when the store is full?
New entries are refused until older ones expire. Move to a bigger plan if you need more room.
How do I know it works?
Press Test this power-up. It checks that the store saves, returns and protects an entry.
Do I need spreadsheets to read my results?
No. Once tracking is live, the Open Tracked analytics shows spend, revenue, ROAS and profit, and you can ask Ari, the built-in AI assistant, questions about your own numbers in plain words. Ari's allowance depends on your analytics plan.
Is Open Tracked different from Open Track or Open Space Track?
No. Open Tracked is the official name of our server-side tracking platform, and the website is opentracked.io. Many people search for it as Open Track, OpenTrack or Open Space Track. All of them lead to the same product: server-side Google Tag Manager hosting, first-party analytics and a CRM pipeline.

Fix your tracking at the source
Open Tracked hosts your server-side Tag Manager, keeps first-party cookies alive and shows what each ad is really worth.
