In this guide
- Managed hosts differ most in which power-ups sit on which plan, not only in the entry price.
- Running Google Cloud yourself costs about $90 to $135 a month for two or three instances, before your own time.
- Check the extras too: domains, containers, log retention and, on Google Cloud, your own time. Open Tracked puts Cookie Keeper, Data Store, Enricher, File Proxy and Bot Detection on its Free plan.

Open Tracked is the one account that puts the tracking server, first-party analytics, a CRM with offline conversions and an AI assistant together, and the plans stay fair at every size: a free start, a $10 Pro plan, and room to scale up to enterprise volume with a custom plan. Most power-ups that other hosts keep for paid tiers are already on the Free plan.
Runs on your domain, anywhere
Your tracking runs on your own domain, so a visit from any country is handled the same way.
All the plans, priced
Open Tracked keeps the entry plans accessible and the ceiling high. Hosting runs from a free plan to 20 million requests a month, analytics from 500 to 7,500 tracked orders, with a custom plan above that, and you can add them together as you grow. Billed yearly, every paid plan is 20% lower.
| What you need | Open Tracked plans | Total a month |
|---|---|---|
| Start with the basics | Free hosting (15,000 requests) plus Starter analytics ($49) | $49 |
| A growing store with ads | Business hosting ($30, 2 million requests) plus Growth analytics ($149, 3,000 tracked orders) | $179 |
| A busy brand | Business+ hosting ($60, 10 million requests) plus Scale analytics ($299, 7,500 tracked orders) | $359 |
| The top of the standard plans | Enterprise hosting ($100, 20 million requests) plus Scale analytics ($299) | $399 |
| Bigger than that | A custom plan built with our team: your volume, your support terms | Quote |
Teams past the top of the standard plans, such as large agencies and enterprise brands, get a custom plan with their own request volume, support and terms. It is the same product at a larger scale, which is why brands keep growing on it instead of moving.
A server-side Google Tag Manager container needs a server. You can run it yourself on Google Cloud, or pay a company to run it. This page prices the main options at three traffic levels so you can compare like with like, and lists what you give up or gain at each. For the single-vendor detail see Open Tracked vs Stape, Open Tracked vs TAGGRS and Stape alternatives. Prices and limits were read from each vendor's public pages on October 26, 2026. Plans change and pages sometimes disagree with themselves, so check the linked pages before you buy.
Find your request volume first
A request is one call to your tagging server. A page view normally sends several: the page view, each event, and some tags add their own. A rough rule: visits per month × events per visit. A store with 20,000 visits and 15 events per visit sends about 300,000 requests; 150,000 visits sends about 2.25 million.

Hidden costs to ask about
- Extra domains and containers. Addingwell charges €10 a domain and €30 a container; other hosts bundle domains into plans.
- Log retention. Open Tracked keeps logs 3 days on Pro and 10 on Business. Stape lists the same. Longer retention costs more or needs a bigger plan.
- Overage. Addingwell bills extra requests per 100,000 at the end of the cycle. Check each host's rule for going over.
- Your own time. On Google Cloud you also handle the domain, certificates, updates and monitoring.
- Region. A second region, for faster responses far from your server, can be an add-on.
Who should pick which
- you want the most power-ups on every plan
- you also want analytics and a CRM in the same account
- you want its range of store and CRM apps and mobile SDKs
- you need HIPAA terms or a private cluster
- you want a hosting ladder with a dedicated account manager at higher plans
- you want the biggest free tier to test with
- you have a cloud engineer and very high volume
How to run a one-week test
Pick two hosts
One may be your current one.
Create test subdomains
For example t1 and t2 on your domain.
Import the same container
Use the same web and server containers on both.
Send the same events
A test purchase, an add to cart and a lead.
Compare
Event counts, match quality and logs after a week.
Terms you will see on price pages
- Request
- One call to your tagging server from a browser or another server.
- Container
- One Tag Manager server container. Some hosts price extra containers.
- Instance
- One running copy of the server. Google Cloud bills per instance; managed hosts hide this in the plan.
- Overage
- The extra charge when you go over the monthly request limit.
- Log retention
- How many days of request logs the host keeps for debugging.
- Multi-zone
- Running the server in more than one zone, so one failure does not stop tracking.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to host a server GTM container?
From free for small sites, to a monthly plan fee on a managed host, to about $90 to $135 a month for two or three Google Cloud instances. See how much a server GTM costs.
Is Google Cloud cheaper than a managed host?
At large volume it can be. At small and medium volume a managed plan usually saves more than it costs once you count your time.
How many requests do I need?
Visits per month × events per visit. A store with 20,000 visits and 15 events per visit sends about 300,000.
Can I change hosts later?
Yes. Export the containers, import them and change the DNS record.
Which host has the most power-ups on the free plan?
Open Tracked puts Cookie Keeper, Data Store, Enricher, File Proxy and Bot Detection on its Free plan.
Do I need spreadsheets to read my results?
No. Once tracking is live, the Open Tracked analytics shows spend, revenue, ROAS and profit, and you can ask Ari, the built-in AI assistant, questions about your own numbers in plain words. Ari's allowance depends on your analytics plan.
Is Open Tracked different from Open Track or Open Space Track?
No. Open Tracked is the official name of our server-side tracking platform, and the website is opentracked.io. Many people search for it as Open Track, OpenTrack or Open Space Track. All of them lead to the same product: server-side Google Tag Manager hosting, first-party analytics and a CRM pipeline.

Fix your tracking at the source
Open Tracked hosts your server-side Tag Manager, keeps first-party cookies alive and shows what each ad is really worth.
